Lauv는 미국에서 활동하는 팝, 일렉트로닉 가수이자 작곡가이다. 대학 시절 작곡가로 활동한 Lauv는 2014년 'The Other'를 발표하면서 가수로서의 본격적인 커리어를 시작했다. R&B와 인디 팝 사운드의 곡은 발매 이후 주목을 받았고, 미니앨범 [Lost in the Light]를 발표했다. 이후 Cheat Codes와 Demi Lovato의 'No Promises'와 Charli XCX의 'Boys' 등을 작곡하면서 음악적 역량을 넓혀갔다.

Lauv는 이 플레이리스트에 대해 "[I met you when I was 18]은 곡과 이야기에 대한 모음집입니다. 18살에 처음 뉴욕으로 와서 첫사랑에 빠진 이야기예요. 자신의 정체성을 찾고자 하는 이야기이고, 동시에 누군가와의 인터뷰를 하기도 하죠. 2015년 저의 첫 곡 'The Other'를 발매한 이후의 이야기입니다. 지금 보면 좀 제멋대로인 듯한 곡이죠. 조각된 기억의 파편들로 추억에 잠기게 되는데 이제 그런 곡들을 모두 모으게 되었습니다.
